Forum: movies Subject: Uploading items

Hi,

I'm sorry, I'm a nooby at this great and wonderful site.
I have some problems about the uploading process, please, somebody help me. I uploaded this item:
http://www.archive.org/details/hajozni_muszaj

Here's what I did: (1) made the item, (2) uploaded the movie with an FTP-client, (3) I didn't find where to start the process, so I made another item, (4) then I could made the meta datas and started the derivate process, (5) finally, the movie appeared, but here's the problem:

If I click the play button, 2 items appears, and only the second one is okay, the first one is not okay:
http://www.archive.org/details/hajozni_muszaj

If I embedding it, I've got this problem also.

I think it's because of the 'second item making', so what should I do the next time? I'll make the item, uploading the file and then where i should click in the menus on the top where I can start the meta and the derivating process?

So, the main problem is how to delete the first and bad item?

I'm sorry guys, but something is not okay. I uploaded the second part of the dokcumentary (http://www.archive.org/details/huzdmeg), and I have the same problem. The player doesn't find the "first" stream, however I didn't define first and second stream, or file or item, or anything.

I created an item, uploaded the file and then typed this URL: http://www.archive.org/checkin/huzdmeg , and the derivating process run properly. So I didn't made any second stream.

I'm really don't know what to do, I'm totally at a loss... I sent my problem to the info@, I'm looking forward some helping assistant.

The only way I upload to the site is to use the upload button on the upper right hand site. When you click it, you go to a screen that has the word SHARE in a grey box in the middle and in the right hand corner. Click the SHARE button in the corner. It'll take you to a screen where you can upload your file. Find it in your computor and click ok. It'll do everything itself. All you have to do is fill out the description. As for the rest, after you try it this way, you can always delete it or ask for the wrong file to be deleted.

Thank you for your responding.

I know that 'other' way, the share-button, but I hardly doubt I can upload a 700 MB file via the share button (because it means uploading via http protocol: via the browser). If my internet connection stops only for a nanosecundum, I should start again the uploading. And upload a 700 MB file takes about 12 hours for me. Thats why FTP is better, because I can resume the uploading after a connection pause...

Now I'm finished the conversion of the third part of this documentary (from DVD to H264) and the third part is 626 MB. It is nearly impossible to upload 626 MB through the browser ('share' button)...
